3 Fixes That Solved "Discovered - currently not indexed" in Search Console

· 1 min read

You publish a new post, weeks pass, and it never shows up on Google. Search Console says “Discovered - currently not indexed.” Here are the fixes that actually worked on my site, in order of impact.

Most unindexed posts share one trait: they are orphan pages with no internal links pointing to them. Googlebot travels through links, so a page nothing links to sits at the bottom of the crawl queue indefinitely.

2. Resubmit your sitemap

If your sitemap is stale, new URLs never reach Google. On a static site, confirm sitemap.xml regenerates on every build, then resubmit it in Search Console.

3. Request indexing last

The URL inspection tool’s “Request indexing” is a band-aid. It only sticks after you fix the root cause — internal links and content quality. Requesting repeatedly without fixing anything often leads to the page dropping out again.
